How can i tell IIS that I want it to connect to the share using a certain account, even when reading. When i created the wesbite, and set its path to the UNC, I used the Connect As button, typed the user i had set up, and tested access - two green ticks, everything was OK.
But still, no. NET access. Since then, i have tried changing the identity of the app pool that serves the website to that of the newly added user. Since then, nothing is working. I have tried to change it back, but now, the website is not working at all. Even though the username and password are entered correctly, this still occurs. Ive also tried mapping a network drive, but it will not reconnect at logon. Am i going down the wrong road in creating a new user in this way? Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Is there another way we can do this without setting up domain controllers on the servers. We had a bad experience with domain controllers setup before, and like to avoid implementing one on the live production environment at all costs.
